The role of thiourea is to improve the reaction rate, promote germination, sterilization, can reduce the free state of iodine to iodine ions. Commonly used in the manufacture of drugs, dyes, resins, compression molding powder and other raw materials, can also be used as rubber vulcanization accelerator, metal mineral flotation agent. Thiourea is an organic sulfur-containing compound, white and shiny crystals, bitter taste, by the action of hydrogen sulfide and lime slurry into calcium sulfide, and then with calcium cyanamide. It can also be prepared by melting ammonium thiocyanate, or by the action of cyanamide and hydrogen sulfide.

Thiourea is easily deliquescent in air, converts to ammonium thiocyanate at 150°C, sublimates at 150-160°C under vacuum, and decomposes at 180°C. The storage should be sealed packaging, put in a cool, ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat.
